Tue 5 Jun

Today was supposed to be our last in Barcelona before heading to Mallorca tomorrow. We’ve been tracking the forecast all day though and it looks less than ideal. Thunderstorms (which means it’ll be gusty), rain for pretty much 10 hours out of the 20 hour passage and then zero wind. If we had somewhere to get to we might brave it, but seeing as we don’t we’ll probably wait until Thursday which looks better.

After doing a mammoth wash and needing to hang it all inside because it was raining, I went to the dentist as one of my teeth has decided that now would be a great time to start acting up. It needs root work but the doctor wasn’t in so I’ll have to take my chances and get it checked in a month or so. We’ll be back for a wedding on the 6th July on the coast of Spain and France, so we’ll pop back to Barcelona before heading off again. They gave me antibiotics just in case it crumbles completely, wouldn’t that be a joy.

The (second) new mattress arrived too – so happy! Long story short, we ordered a mattress at the London boat show in January. Thinking we’d ordered full memory foam we were surprised to find it didn’t arrive in a roll. Turns out it was a pocket pocket sprung with a layer of foam. Alright, we’d give it a go. We’d also ordered it to come in two parts with a zip, but the guys had forgotten to attach the zip which meant that as the nights wore on, our bodyweight was squishing them down the centre line and the gap in the middle was widening. Getting increasingly irritated about falling through the gap, and worried about how they’d be after 6 months we got a refund and ordered a new (and this time full memory foam) version. After a little scare it fits nicely and it’s way better. Tom’s so relieved I won’t be going on about it anymore! 🙂

In the afternoon we cycled to Port Olympic to pick up two new butane bottles (for the stove), new sunnies, deck shoes and gloves. One final trip to Alcampo (we’re starting to be recognised in there, it’s not good), lunch in Vapiano then back to the boat for yet more re-sorting/re-arranging of stuff.

This evening Linus and Jenny came by for some farewell drinks, and gave us a yummy bottle of rum. They’re both working like demons at the moment, as well as having just bought a house in Sweden and working on their cruising  plans so it was awesome of them to come by. Guys, we’ll miss you! ❤
