Transatlantic sail from Iceland to Canada on an 82ft Grand Mistral

In September 2022 we sailed 2,000NM from Reykjavík in Iceland to St John’s in Newfoundland, Canada on an 82ft Grand Mistral owned by Spartan Ocean Racing. We knew crossing the North Atlantic on an enormous race boat heading into winter would be an adventure, but what we didn’t quite count on was 12 days of beating into 25k knot winds and 4/5 meter seas! Despite the challenging conditions we truly had the adventure of a lifetime.

Here’s a collection of our most memorable moments from the trip 😀

Our route from Iceland to Canada looked roughly like this. Due to hurricanes Ian and Fiona rushing up the east coast of Canada, we opted to sail south for a day or so longer to allow them to pass though before starting to head west again.
