Tired from not getting much sleep we got up late then went for a wander around the little boat show happening in Badalona marina, and found someone who could come and check the tension of our rig next week. After 14 years it probably needs replacing but we’re hoping to be able to squeeze one more season out of it given it’s been so lightly used, so far.

We popped by to see our friends Linus and Jenny on their mission to have a good spring clean, and rip out all their electrics in preparation for installing a new set (quite a job!). Opposite them was this really weird trimaran thing, looks like what Donald Crowhurst built for the 1968 Golden Globe! Afterwards we came back to continue with the water maker. We finally managed to get the hoses connected, which was way more challenging than it sounds like it should be. The connectors are never the right size, the cupboard where we’re installing it is tiny and difficult to reach and even with a torch it’s pretty dark in there.

Linus and Jenny came by for a beer, then we called it a day. I don’t know whether it was the wine (probably was!) but all evening I felt really quite miserable, like I’d just been through a break-up. I had this sinking, panicky feeling that I’d made a massive mistake leaving Schibsted, and that not working and being a part of all that working entails wasn’t going to suit me. Had I really thought this through? Time for bed, I’ll worry about this tomorrow.
