Wed 23 May

Today started really slow. After saying goodbye to our neighbours (they headed off to Mallorca this morning) my plan was to continue working on the chartplotter, and secretly I was hopeful I’d be able to finish the installation. As predicted I underestimated it – I made some progress, but we’re still far from done.

The chartplotter needs to be hooked up to the wind instruments and also to a WiFi module, which requires running three cables from the cockpit down below. First I tried to run a cable through the pedestal alongside the existing ones, but there are already a load stuffed in there so that was a no go. Time to get serious! We reckon there’s plenty of space on the other side, so I drilled a new hole into the pedestal on the opposite side of the wheel. We managed to drill the hole, but need to widen it to get all three (!) cables through it. Oh well, we’ll take the Dremel to it tomorrow, let’s see if that works!

Camilla came back from work (third last day!) and we met up at one of these everything stores at the end of Diagonal just to have a look around. Two hours later and 150 euros lighter we were cycling home, Camilla riding as a pillion passenger on the back clinging onto an assortment of plastic containers and tool bags.

What followed was another late night organising spree. It was well worth though as our top-loading fridge is packed way more efficiently and all the tools and spares fit underneath one seat in the saloon! It’s the weirdest things which make us yotties happy isn’t it?
